| Petition For New Transit In Ward 42, Scarborough-Rouge River
The Mayor and his team have cancelled the Transit City Plan which would have brought the Sheppard Light Rail Transit (LRT) and a Scarborough Rapid Transit (RT) extension into Scarborough-Rouge River. The previously approved funds for our community are being used to build underground subway lines in other parts of the city and now Ward 42 will have NO new transit. Click here to sign a petition to urge the Mayor to reinvest in our community and bring new transit into Ward 42, Scarborough-Rouge River. | Back to Top

| A Message from the Toronto Police Service - 42 Division
42 Division would like to request the community's assistance in dealing with Break and Enters in areas of the division. During our investigational canvassing we received information from neighbours advising that they witnessed unknown, suspicious individuals either in the area or leaving from the affected homes but did not think to call the police or were not sure if it was suspicious enough to call the police. Please let us know if you see anything suspicious such as strangers loitering or sitting in parked cars near homes or knocking on doors and asking for other people when you answer. Call the police radio room at 416 808-2222 to report these activities. Do not hesitate to call 911 for emergency situations such as a break and enter or other crimes in progress. Remember, always try to get a description and direction of travel of the suspicious individuals for the police. Your call may prevent your neighbour from being victimized.
Thank You.

| Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) | | The TTC recently approved an extension of the 53 Steeles East route south from Steeles Avenue to the Morningside Heights area which became effective on January 2nd, 2011. The route operates south from Steeles Avenue on Staines Road, north on Morningside Avenue, north on Oasis Boulevard, east on Seasons Drive, and north on Staines Road to return to its regular route on Steeles Avenue. The route extension closes the gap on Staines Road and provides new service, but comes at the cost of less frequent service east of Markham Road as the route maintained the same number of buses to operate on the longer route. As a result, the time between buses east of Markham Road is now longer.
Construction at Finch Station has also impacted the reliability of buses on the 53 Steeles East route, as the buses are forced to take longer to exit from the station. Councillor Raymond Cho is currently working with the TTC General Manager and Chair to minimize these delays. | Back to Top

Quiet Raymond Cho is a thoughtful, middle-of-the-road voting veteran on city council, who tends to shun the spotlight and political pomp.
So when the Scarborough councillor suddenly broke out of character earlier this week and delivered an impassioned rebuke of the mayor’s “cut, cut, cut” agenda, it left opposition councillors banging their desks and cheering aloud. Click here for the full article. | Back to Top
