Ward 42 is home to approximately 75,000 people and consists of approximately 21,000 households. Ward 42 is 39 square kilometres in size and is situated in the north-east corner of Toronto. It is bounded by Markham Road and McCowan Road to the west, Pickering Town Line to the east, Steeles Avenue East to the north and Highway 401 and Sheppard Avenue East to the south.

Highlights:


  • The population of Ward 42 grew by 24.6% between 2001 and 2006.
  • 36% of occupied private dwellings were in single-detached houses, 23% were in row houses, 18% were in high-rise apartments and 10% were in semi-detached houses in 2006.
  • In 2006, 76% of occupied private dwellings were owned while 24% were rented.
