About Councillor Raymond Cho |  | Dr. Raymond Cho came to Canada from the Republic of Korea in 1967. He started his working life in this country first as a miner in British Columbia, then a dishwasher and finally arrived in Toronto, the city he has called home for over forty years. He obtained his B.A. at Hankuk University in Seoul, Republic of Korea, and after arriving in Toronto, he went on to obtain his Master's Degree in Social Work, a 2nd Master's Degree in Education, followed by his Doctor of Education degree in Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto.
Councillor Cho first worked in Toronto as a Social Worker with Children's Aid Society and also with the Toronto District School Board. He was first elected as a Metro Councillor in 1991 and was re-elected to Metro Council again in 1994. In the newly amalgamated City of Toronto, he was elected as a Councillor representing Ward 18, Scarborough-Malvern, and was re-elected with a landslide victory once again in 2000 and 2003. He has proudly continued to serve and represent the amalgamated City of Toronto's Ward 42, Scarborough-Rouge River, and is thankful for the trust placed in him by his constituents.
Councillor Raymond Cho and his wife, Soon Ok, have been living in Scarborough for the past 40 years and they have three adult sons. He is an avid golfer and can often be seen on the local driving ranges teaching youth from Ward 42. |
It is an honour to have been elected seven times as Councillor in the City of Toronto for twenty years of constituent representation in Scarborough-Rouge River, Ward 42. I am humbled to represent approximately 75,000 persons with a wide variety of diverse, ethnic backgrounds.
I want to express my sincere appreciation to all of you for placing your confidence in me. I would like to thank everyone who gave their support and I hope that I will be able to continue to serve all residents of Scarborough-Rouge River with dedication, compassion and humility.
